We are pleased to announce our new acquisition: Marysia Nikitiuk’s debut film ‘When the trees fall’, an Ukrainian-Polish-French-Macedonian Coproduction, which won the ScripTeast Kieslowski award for the “Best script” in last Cannes edition.
Written and directed by Marysia Nikitiuk, ‘When the trees fall’ is a coming of age drama, that depicts the story of a rebellious little girl, who learns about life watching her teenage cousin’s romance with a young criminal in a godforsaken village in Ukraine. But when he flees after a murder, her cousin is forced to marry someone else, and this little heroine has to understand just how important it is to fight for your dreams.
Marysia Nikitiuk’s debut follows LATIDO’s support of new talents this year, including first feature film ‘Rara’ by Pepa San Martín (Best Feature Film Generation KPlus in Berlinale and Horizontes Latinos Award in San Sebastian), WARSAW Jury Award winner ‘Playground’ by Bartosz M. Kowalski, or ‘ Food & Shelter’ by Juan Miguel del Castillo and ‘The tip of the iceberg’ by David Cánovas.
