Jorge Perugorría and Vladimir Cruz, stars of the biggest Cuban filmmaking success of all times: ‘Strawberry and Chocolate,’ reunite in this ensemble comedy that depicts the surreal socio-political situation in Cuba during the last years of Fidel Castro. It does so through the adventures of a group of travelers attempting the impossible task of catching a bus at a dilapidated station in the heart of the country. Behind the camera is Juan Carlos Tabío, co-director of the aforementioned ‘Strawberry and Chocolate.’ The film was selected for the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival.
At a bus station in a town in the middle of Cuba, the line of passengers waiting for a bus to take them somewhere else just keeps growing longer. Their only hope is to wait for the bus station´s sole vehicle to be fixed. Emilio, a young engineer, Jacqueline, a beautiful young woman engaged to a Spaniard, a blind man and other characters are waiting.
Fernández, the manager, announces that there is no solution to the problem and the station will be closing. Most of the people leave, but Emilio suggests staying and repairing the bus themselves…
