"A moving, intimate, and political portrait of Almudena Grandes."
"A film that celebrates her life and the tremendous void she has left."
Deceased at the early age of 61 in 2021, the writer from Madrid, Almudena Grandes, is considered one of the most important figures in Spanish literature of the last 30 years. She was the author of a dozen critically and publicly successful novels, six adapted into films. In addition to analyzing her professional life, this documentary delves into the more intimate side of a tireless fighter, a pioneer of feminism, and always committed to social causes. Produced by Tornasol, it is directed by the veteran filmmaker from Madrid, Azucena Rodríguez, who in 1995 adapted Grandes’ ATLAS OF HUMAN GEOGRAPHY into a film, with a script co-written by both.
Through a selection of excerpts from the countless interviews, conversations, and conferences she participated in throughout her professional career, alongside the testimonies and recollections of her husband, the also-writer Luis García Montero, her children, her sister, and her aunt, the life, work, and legacy of the writer Almudena Grandes are reconstructed.
