True Crime, Thriller, Trial. Directed by Jim Sheridan, David Merriman
Six times Oscar nominated filmmaker Jim Sheridan co-directs with David Merriman a judicial drama in which they invent a retrial of a real murder case already sentenced. The circumstances surrounding the trial are recreated with a perfect and indivisible combination of reality and fiction, to raise countless unanswered questions. The extraordinary actress Vicky Krieps (PHANTOM THREAD, BERGMAN ISLAND, CORSAGE) stars alongside Colm Meaney (LAYER CAKE, CON AIR), and Aidan Gillen (THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, GAME OF THRONES, BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY) in a film heir to the classic 12 ANGRY MEN but with a contemporary twist where misogynistic opinions are not acceptable anymore.
In a fictitious trial, twelve members of a jury must decide whether British journalist Ian Bailey is guilty of the murder of French filmmaker Sophie Toscan Du Plantier in 1996. Based on real events, the film reconstructs, through the discussions between these twelve people, a case that ultimately invites the viewer to draw their own conclusions.
