GIRL AND WOLF is the directorial debut of comic artist Roc Espinet, who adapts his own graphic novel for adults into film. Behind the project are Sygnatia and Hampa Studios, the
production companies that triumphed with the masterpiece BUÑUEL IN THE LABYRINTH OF THE TURTLES, alongside Boavista Filmes. It’s a stellar lineup for a 2D animated film
that draws stylistically and conceptually from the legendary Japanese Studio Ghibli. The film arrives backed by the Award for Best Animation Project at the International Development and Co-Production Forum Ventana CineMad.
Adventures, mystery, action, and a lot of fantasy are the main elements of a coming-of-age that follows the journey of Paula, a naïve and shy teenager who suffers bullying in her village. Her life takes a dramatic turn when an ancestral pack of wolves, locked in an eternal war with humans, bursts into her world. Caught between the two realms, the Young girl embarks on an initiatory journey where she learns to overcome her traumas while uncovering her darkest side and revealing inner powers, she never knew she had. Paula is both a girl and a wolf.
