Here, he turns his attention fully to flamenco in a captivating documentary produced by Lastor Media (10,000 KM, LIBERTAD) and La Termita Films. Through dynamic editing, remarkable archival footage and cinematic sequences, Lacuesta celebrates a genre whose resilience has kept it vibrantly alive, tracing its connections with history, politics, eroticism, the avant-garde and the arts across three centuries.

The subtitle says it all: “Stories, tientos, myths, and sketches of flamenco.” Inspired by the essays of artist and researcher Pedro G. Romero and drawing on an extraordinary audiovisual archive, this creative documentary traces flamenco from its origins to the present day, exploring its surprising connections with history, culture and everyday life. Along the way, it uncovers remarkable images, from Leni Riefenstahl dancing bulerías dressed as a gypsy to Edison’s footage of the legendary dancer Carmencita.
