"Brilliant debut."
"A mature debut feature."
"An excellent and restrained journey of discovery."
A fascinating debut as screenwriter and director by the renowned acting coach Gerard Oms, with the absolute starring role of one of his most talented students, Mario Casas, whose incredible work in four languages earned him the Best Actor award at the Málaga Film Festival. A Spanish-Dutch co-production, filmed entirely in the Netherlands, with a naturalistic and neorealist tone that is, at the same time, a social drama about immigration (seen from the original perspective of an European lost within the European Union) and an inspiring portrait of the search for one’s own identity by a character unable to find his place in the world and accept his contradictions. The extraordinary soundtrack is by the prestigious singer and composer Sílvia Pérez Cruz, and the editing was done by director Neus Ballús, winner of the Silver Spike at the Seminci in Valladolid for THE ODD-JOB MEN.
Sergio travels to the Netherlands with his family and friends to watch a football match of his team, Espanyol de Barcelona. When it’s time to return, he decides to stay, without giving any explanations to anyone or having any apparent reasons. Alone, without money, without a home, without a job, and without speaking the language, Sergio becomes an outcast and must fight day by day to survive in a hostile environment. At the same time, he embarks on an intense inner journey that will lead him to discover himself and accept who he truly is.
