Drama. Directed by Sandra Romero
In a style that could remind us of Chloé Zhao, Sandra Romero (winner of the Silver Biznaga for Best Director at the Málaga Film Festival in 2020, and co-director of Sorogoyen’s new series selected at the Venice Film) directs a universal story full of humanity, extrapolatable to any family and rural community in the world. The film captures the deep-seated need to have a place to return to and reconnect with one’s roots, with natural actors representing themselves and shining with incredible authenticity. The light tone in which the problems are approached in the film creates a distinct story that incorporates drama and humor.
A lost intimacy between two brothers begins to resurface when Antonio returns to his town, to a collapsing family home to help his twin brother Javier, who suffers from a congenital disease. They will have to face conflicts from the past, feelings of loneliness, and reproaches, which will culminate in a confrontation between them. Antonio must confront the dilemma of whether to stay and try to fix things or go back to his own life.
