Inspiring Movie. Directed by Gonzaga Manso
Award-winning short filmmaker and cinematographer Gonzaga Manso makes his feature film debut with an emotional movie inspired by his family, paying tribute to the figure of grandparents. Intimate, tender, and full of humor, it explores the passage of time and the persistence of memory in the tradition of Japanese masters like Yasujiro Ozu and Shohei Imamura. Produced by Películas Pendelton (CAMINO, CHAMPIONS), it features a memorable encounter between veteran actor Saturnino García, Goya winner, and newcomer Jesús Outes “Meiriño,” a retired goose barnacles harvester and non-professional actor, delivering a natural and authentic performance.
José Antonio, almost ninety and showing early signs of Alzheimer’s, spends his days surrounded by his family in Galicia, though he often feels overlooked by his children and grandchildren. He tells them he’s going for a walk in the woods, but in reality, he’s looking for Mindo, an old friend and retired fisherman, to head out to sea. Aboard their small boat, they embark on the last great adventure of their lives, while his family, worried and unaware of his whereabouts, realizes how much they had lost sight of him. Can José Antonio and Mindo show us that it’s never too late for a great adventure?
