Perhaps the war genre is one of the least explored in Spanish cinema. However, seldom has it been approached with such brilliant results as in the debut film by Adolfo Martínez Pérez, a storyboard specialist who displays unusual skills, strength and command for a newcomer. Set against the backdrop of the Afghanistan War and based on real events, the movie narrates the daring and nearly impossible rescue of a Spanish-American convoy trapped behind enemy lines. With production values reminiscent of a Hollywood blockbuster (particularly impressive are the scenes featuring helicopters), it emanates adrenaline throughout its 90 minutes of action and suspense. The film boasts a magnificent cast, including three Goya Award winners—Ariadna Gil, Roberto Álamo, and Ruth Gabriel—outstanding special effects, and a brilliant soundtrack by Roque Baños that serve as the icing on the cake.
The crew of a medical helicopter suffers an accident when helping a joint force of USA and United Nations troops under Spanish command in Afghanistan. The Spanish army has only one night to organize the rescue of the crew and the injured, but what seems routine turns into hell once they receive the order to rescue the helicopter as well. Things only get worse when during the night a huge concentration of Talibans begin to surround them.
