Adaptation of one of the most famous novels by late writer Almudena Grandes by director Gerardo Herrero. Through a troubled relationship between two completely antithetical twin sisters (the first, apparently perfect, and the second a loose cannon) the film presents a decidedly feminine and feminist view of sexuality and human relationships. An extraordinary onscreen duel between the sensual Ariadna Gil and the more discreet Marta Belaustegui.

Malena prays for becoming a boy, feels that she will never level off her perfect sister, Reina. Without managed to separate from her influence, she will start to think about a curse relying also on her family. Within the pass of years and the spirit of Reina always upon her, she will discover that there is no other way but living her life.
