Comedy, Drama. Directed by Marina Seresesky
In 2013, the Mexican film INSTRUCTIONS NOT INCLUDED, directed by and starring Eugenio Derbez, became the biggest box-office Spanish-speaking film of all time. Now, the Spanish version of this heartwarming and moving father-daughter story, which blends comedy and melodrama, is ready to captivate audiences. Produced by La Pepa Films—known for contemporary cult hits like BETWEEN TWO WATERS (Golden Shell at San Sebastian)—and Basque Films, the production behind the breakout success THE PLATFORM. The film features the acclaimed actor and comedian Paco León, joined by the promising young Maia Zaitegi, and the talented Silvia Alonso. Set against the breathtaking volcanic landscapes of the Canary Island of Lanzarote, this fable will both move and entertain the whole family, combining laughter with a few tears.
Aday is a carefree womanizer, living a hedonistic and self-centered life in a small coastal town in the Canary Islands. His world is turned upside down when a woman from a brief, casual affair shows up, drops off their daughter, and leaves, making him responsible for her. At first, Aday intends to return the girl to her mother, but his attempts fail. Forced to raise her, little by little, he learns how to be a father, and his values and priorities shift in unexpected ways. Years pass, filled with happiness, until the mother reappears intending to reclaim her daughter.
